The Aboriginal Cultural Mentorship Program built on the successes Common Weal achieved with the 2008-2009 North Central Community Artist in Residence Project. The Aboriginal Cultural Mentorship Program, while centred in North Central, extended the program into other marginalized Regina community schools, such as Cochrane High School and Thomson Elementary School.

Besides teaching Traditional Aboriginal arts and craft workshops such as beadwork, jewellery, painting, drawing, sculpture using bones, antlers etc. Project Artist Gordon Keewatin provided youth mentoring, coordinated First Nations cultural events, such as a round dance, Aboriginal culture information sessions (the pipe ceremony, use of sacred materials; such as the significance and usage of sweet grass, and Aboriginal societal values), and hosted discussions on issues plaguing Aboriginal peoples such as poverty, child abuse and neglect, addiction, crime and violence.
